As soon as the bell had rung, Carmen took her time making her way to her locker. She was in a fairly good mood today, but she decided to keep out of the center of attention. Normally she was found with a large group of friends including Heather, but Heather was 'sick' today, and she didn't really feel like joining in the gossip circle at the moment. Instead, she made her way to the cafeteria, grabbed up a tray of lunch, consisting of a salad, pop, and jello, and found an empty two person table to sit at.
If someone joined her, it would be their decision, not hers. She wasn't in the mood to hang with a large group of friends, nor was she in the mood for crazy conversation, but it would be nice to have someone to talk to.
The next time she looked up, someone had taken a seat in front of her. A familiar face.

Melodie wasn't drawn to sit in large groups like she use to. She had disappeared for awhile since the accident. No one noticed her anymore or more like noticed it was her. She had changed a lot but was still the same. She sighed as she got a tray of food. She most likely wasn't going to eat much of it. Melodie never cared for cafeteria food. She moved along to a table where a lone girl sat.
Melodie sat down and noticed the girl was Carmen James. The two didn't know each other well. It was more in passing. She was sure they have at least one class together. She looked down at her tray. She wasn't even sure what she got. She went with the safe bet of just drinking the soda.

"Hey Mel," Carmen said in a gentle toned voice as she recognized the face sitting in front of her. Seeing as they were in a couple classes together and Carmen was good with names and faces, she hadn't made any acception to Melody. Sure she had changed over the months, but when you'd seen a person more than once, it wasn't hard to forget them, "How are you?" She added as she played around wearily with the food on her plate with her fork.

"Hello. I think I'll be okay if I don't the food before me," said Melodie with a soft laugh. She opened her soda of Dr. Pepper taking a sip. She pushed her tray away from her a little. She was sure she wasn't going to eat it now. She wasn't really hunger anyway. She would wait till she got home.
"So how have you been? We don't get to talk much in class," she said in a smooth and elegant voice. It sounded slightly creepy. She had perfected her voice so well that it came off as an elegent but dark sound. Her voice was only a tool.

"Tell me about it...Not much time for anything other than school work these day!" Carmen agreed, feeling a bit more enthusiastic seeing as one of her other friends hadent decided to show up. Mel was more of a quiet person, and Carmen had to admit she was great to talk to when you didnt want to be caught up in a lengthy conversation, "I'm good though! How bout you? Haven't seen you around much lately..." Just as Melodie did, Carmen pushed her tray to the side, not being in the eating mood. She haden't had much of an appitite really.

"I'm doing better. I have been with family lately not at school or in town actually. How is your family since we are talking about family," said Melodie. She ran her finger through her black hair. She drank more of her soda. She set it down and rested her elbows on the table.

"Um...My family is...Doing their best to keep it together," She said, with a hint of hesitation, "Heather's good...Parents are out of town as usual," She said without lying. It was true. They were out of town and they weren't coming back, but that still made them out of town, "Um...Ya...Haven't seen you round the school much. I was wondering what happened to ya." She smiled wearily.

"Life is what happen to be honest. Fate happened as well," said Melodie with a shrug. She noticed the way Carmen was talking your sister and parents. She made a note to herself not to mention family again. She was somewhat glad about that. She was sad though. Carmen looked so uncomfortable. Life was a troubling thing.
"And talk about fate. My home may appear in Better Homes and Gardens. The gardens have always been some of the best in the area. I'm flatter that they may in a magazine. What do you think?" asked Melodie. She didn't want to feel like she was bragging but she was excited about it. A part of her felt like braging a little.
